One freezing winter evening, two men came into our small caf\u00e9, ordered a large meal and drinks, but quietly left without paying a bill worth several hundred dollars. My coworker Mia, a struggling single mother working two jobs, was devastated, so I ran into the freezing night and caught up with them a few blocks away. When I confronted them, one man admitted they were both unemployed, struggling financially, and too ashamed to face the bill.
