On My Son’s Wedding Day, I Visited His Ex-Wife because…

When my 25-year-old son married Tina, a kind and loving young woman, I believed they would build a beautiful life together. After their son was born, however, Tina quietly revealed a painful truth: my son had been unfaithful multiple times. She had proof, and despite my shock and disappointment, she continued forgiving him, hoping their family could survive.

Months later, my son called to announce he was divorcing Tina. He had found someone else and claimed she was “a better fit.” Meanwhile, Tina was left alone with a one-year-old child, struggling to pay rent and working tirelessly just to keep food on the table. Then came another call—an invitation to his wedding.

When I asked why he had betrayed Tina, he laughed and said, “She’s great, but I deserve someone better.” Hearing those words broke something inside me. The arrogance and cruelty were unbearable. On the day of his wedding, instead of attending the ceremony, my husband and I drove to Tina’s tiny rented room.

We spent the day helping her with chores, caring for the baby, and giving her a chance to rest. When my son called demanding to know where we were, I told him the truth: “I’m with your ex-wife. You were a terrible husband, and I’m ashamed of you.” He hung up and has not spoken to us since. Sometimes I wonder if I went too far, but when I see Tina fighting every day for her child, I can’t help thinking I may not have gone far enough
