Daniel entered the back office with the calm confidence of someone who owned the place. Bryce, the manager, barely looked up and pointed toward the dining room. Daniel quietly mentioned the chaos in the restaurant and the smell coming from the kitchen. Only then did Bryce realize he was speaking to the owner himself. As Bryce nervously rambled about labor costs, Daniel placed a folded note on the desk with a single name written on it: Jenna.
Moments later, Jenna stepped into the office. Though her hands shook, her voice remained steady as she exposed Bryce’s misconduct. She explained how he sold prime shifts to employees, skimmed tips under the guise of management fees, and replaced premium steaks with cheap meat while pocketing the savings. Bryce tried to dismiss her as a disgruntled employee, but Daniel listened carefully and demanded the truth.
Without saying much, Daniel walked to the freezer and opened a box labeled as premium ribeyes. Inside was cheap, unmarked meat with no company-approved packaging. Returning to the office, he called the regional director and requested both a locksmith and the police, citing fraud and theft. Then he informed Bryce that he had five minutes to collect his belongings and leave.
As Bryce hurried out in humiliation, Jenna worried about the future of the staff and the restaurant. Daniel looked around at the exhausted employees and then crossed Bryce’s name off the manager schedule. Beneath it, he wrote “Jenna Vance, Interim.” He announced that a training team would arrive the next day and that every employee would receive double pay for the shift. When Jenna asked why he trusted her, Daniel replied that anyone willing to risk their job to protect their team had already earned the position.
