My Grandmother Nearly Gave My Toddler Spoiled Juice..

When my child was just 18 months old, my grandmother called me over with a cup of juice and casually asked if it would be safe to give it to the baby. Without thinking twice, I took a few sips first, assuming I was simply checking whether it was too cold or too sour for a toddler.

Almost immediately, I noticed a terrible taste and realized something was seriously wrong. I spat it out and asked my grandmother what I had just drunk. That’s when she calmly admitted the juice had come from an old jar she had found in the pantry.

She explained that the jar had been swollen and even had mold on top, but she believed it was still safe because she had carefully removed the mold and poured the juice without letting any of it fall into the cup. She had actually intended to give it to my 18-month-old child.

Thankfully, I happened to be there and drank it first, preventing my toddler from consuming the spoiled juice. It was a frightening reminder that even well-meaning relatives can make dangerously poor decisions when it comes to food safety.
