My Sister Saved My Wedding With the Dress She Never Got to Wear..

Twenty minutes before my wedding ceremony, disaster struck—my wedding dress zipper broke beyond repair. As everyone panicked, my sister smirked and said, “Maybe it’s a sign.” Hurt and angry, I told her to leave because she had been bitter about my wedding ever since I got engaged after her own fiancé left her just weeks before their wedding.

A few minutes later, she returned carrying something I never expected to see: her old wedding dress. It had been packed away ever since her engagement ended, and she had refused to even talk about it. I thought she was trying to ruin my day, but instead, she quietly held the dress out and said, “Wear it.”

She admitted she had unfairly projected her heartbreak onto me. “I kept calling your wedding a mistake because mine was. That’s not fair to you,” she confessed. The dress wasn’t exactly my style, but it fit closely enough that our mom quickly altered it. As my sister helped me put it on, she began to cry, and soon we were both laughing through our tears.

Before I walked down the aisle, she hugged me tightly and whispered, “I thought seeing someone else wear this would destroy me.” Instead, it helped her heal. She was smiling for the first time since her engagement ended, and as I said “I do,” I realized I hadn’t just found my husband that day—I had found my sister again.
