The Birthday Gift That Changed My Marriage..

I married very young in an arranged marriage. Everyone said my husband was kind, reliable, and financially secure, but I didn’t love him. He knew how I felt, never pressured me, and we lived together more like respectful roommates than a married couple.

Everything changed on my birthday. When I woke up, I found a large black gift box waiting for me. Inside were books I had casually mentioned to a friend and the exact set of paints I had admired in a store but never bought.

On top of the gifts was a simple handwritten note that read, “I hope this will lift your spirits.” In that moment, I realized my husband had been quietly paying attention all along—to my interests, my conversations, and the little things that made me smile.

His thoughtful gesture showed me how deeply he cared without ever asking for anything in return. That birthday awakened feelings I never expected, and for the first time, I saw not the man I had been arranged to marry, but the man who truly loved me.
