The Warning Hidden for Five Years..

My roommate had been missing for five years. She was bright, cheerful, and full of life, but one day she suddenly disappeared. The police searched for her, and eventually even her parents lost hope. I never stopped wondering what had happened, but with no evidence and no leads, there was nothing more I could do.

Five years later, I was clearing out her old room because I was preparing to sell the house. While moving her dresser, I noticed a hidden hole in the wall. Inside were several notes, all repeating the same chilling warning: “If I ever disappear, urgently search for me at Jake’s cabin in the mountains.” My blood ran cold when I read the name.

Jake had been her boyfriend. I remembered that he could be possessive and unpredictable, and she had once mentioned his temper. At the time, however, I hadn’t realized how serious things might have been. I immediately contacted the police and gave them the notes, but finding Jake proved difficult. He had reportedly left for Europe, and five years had already passed since my roommate vanished.

The discovery changed everything, but it also left me with a painful question: why had she hidden those notes instead of going to the police herself? I still don’t know what happened to her or whether Jake was responsible. But whenever I think about that hidden message, I wonder how different things might have been if I had found it five years earlier.
