The Girl Who Sat Beside My Hospital Bed Every Night..

After a terrible car accident, I spent fifteen days in the hospital, unable to speak and barely able to understand what had happened to my body. My children lived far away, my friends had returned to their lives, and the nights were painfully lonely. Then, almost every evening, a quiet girl who looked about thirteen or fourteen would appear beside my bed, pull up a chair, and simply sit with me.

One night, she leaned closer and whispered, “Be strong. You’ll smile again.” Her words became my source of comfort whenever the pain and fear became unbearable. When I finally regained my voice, I asked the nurses about her, but they told me no visitor matching her description had ever been recorded. They believed the girl might have been a hallucination caused by the trauma and medication.

Six weeks later, I was discharged and returned home. As I opened my front door, I saw the same girl standing there. She introduced herself as Tiffany and explained that she was the daughter of the woman who had caused the crash and died from her injuries. Tiffany had been wandering the hospital during those nights, watching me fight to survive while desperately hoping her own mother would recover.

Then Tiffany handed me a necklace—my grandmother’s necklace, which I thought had been lost in the accident. She had found it and kept it safe. We both broke down, realizing how deeply our lives had become connected through tragedy. Over the years, Tiffany became like a daughter to me, and whenever she visits, I remember the mysterious girl who sat beside my hospital bed and gave me hope when I needed it most.
