The Successor Who Came Back With Evidence

The silence shattered when Harrison led me to the stage and announced that I would become his successor at the end of the year. Marcus looked stunned, but I wasn’t finished. I opened the folder I had carried into the gala and handed copies to the board. For months, I had been quietly investigating irregular contracts connected to Marcus’s division—payments routed through shell vendors, inflated invoices, and approvals signed using access he thought no one was monitoring. Marcus tried to laugh it off. “Rebecca is bitter. She’s doing this because I left her.” Then Harrison opened the final report. The room changed instantly. The transactions matched internal records, and several vendors led directly back to Celeste’s brother. Celeste’s face went white.
