Television fans are mourning the death of a familiar face who became a memorable part of two popular series. The actor died on March 20, 2026, at the age of 54, passing away in his sleep at his Indiana home. His family initially described the death as being from natural causes.

He became widely recognized for playing Xander Harris, the loyal and witty friend at the center of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. After the series ended, he continued his television career with a recurring role as FBI technical analyst Kevin Lynch on Criminal Minds, along with appearances in other shows and films.

The actor was Nicholas Brendon, whose performances left a lasting impression on fans of both series. In his later years, he also pursued painting and art while dealing with several health challenges.

His family remembered him as passionate, sensitive and deeply creative, asking fans to honor his life while giving them privacy to grieve.
