At 3:00 AM, my phone erupted with a text from my daughter begging for help. The only problem? She had passed away 14 months ago.

David Morrison rushed to his eldest daughter Rebecca’s apartment at 3:00 a.m. after receiving eighteen missed calls and a desperate text asking for immediate help.
Upon arrival, David found a bewildered Rebecca and her fiancé Mark, both of whom confirmed she had been asleep and had not sent the messages.

Closer inspection revealed the texts were sent from the phone number of David’s youngest daughter, Amy, who had tragically passed away fourteen months prior.
When David dialed the number, a stranded young woman named Sarah Mitchell answered; the disconnected number had eventually been reassigned to her.
Sarah had accidentally texted David because she had saved her own father’s contact details under the exact same label Amy used: “Dad”.

Sarah’s vehicle had broken down on a lonely stretch of Highway 92, and her own father’s phone was turned off.
David drove out to rescue Sarah, noting that her age and vulnerable expression painfully reminded him of his late daughter.
During the ride, David learned Sarah was a hardworking nursing student who had also recently lost her mother.

Helping Sarah navigate her crisis allowed David a profound opportunity to be the supportive father he always strove to be.
Ultimately, David felt that Amy had somehow orchestrated the encounter to give him one last chance to help someone in deep need.
