Claire arrives at her husband Ethan’s office with their daughter Lily, who proudly brings her overworked father lunch. The company’s board launches an investigation, places Ethan on administrative leave, and eventually terminates him for cause after concluding that he submitted misleading financing requests, failed to disclose conflicts of interest, and used company-related funds for unauthorized purposes. Natalie loses her position but cooperates with investigators. Grayson Capital survives after securing new financing, while Ethan moves out of the family home. Claire files for divorce, focusing not on revenge but on protecting Lily and preserving their financial stability. The divorce takes eleven months because Ethan fights over the money, but forensic accounting proves that certain marital funds were improperly diverted. The final settlement requires Ethan to reimburse some of those funds, establishes child support, and gives Claire and Ethan shared parental responsibility, with Lily primarily living with Claire.
After the divorce, Ethan tells Claire that he truly loved her, but she realizes that love without honesty and accountability was not enough. She tells him, “Maybe you did.
