Putting a top sheet “upside down” may actually be the correct way to make a bed, especially when it has a patterned side. Place the decorative side facing your body, then fold the top portion back over the blanket near the pillows to create the polished border often seen on hotel beds. This can also put the softer side against your skin while the sheet protects heavier bedding from sweat, oils, and lotions. If both sides are identical, it makes little difference, but when they differ, this simple trick can improve comfort, protect your bedding, and give your bed a neat hotel-style finish.
