According to local reports in Rio Grande Valley near Brownsville, Texas, the bird was seen multiple times near open fields and homes. Witnesses consistently described a dark raptor with a wingspan they estimated at over 10 feet, powerful low-altitude flight, and brief landings before taking off again. Many said its size appeared far greater than familiar birds such as bald eagles, turkey vultures, and osprey. That unusual discrepancy has caught the attention of wildlife experts, who are now questioning what the witnesses actually saw.
