Having a baby at sixteen left me unable to provide for him, leading my stepmom to quit her job to care for my son; however, when I turned twenty and prepared to leave with my child, my stepmom crueliy told me I was unfit to be a mother, warned me she would prove it, and subsequently packed her belongings and fled with my baby. Upon returning home to find my dad weeping, he handed me a note from her in which she accused him of letting her down after sacrificing her career for four years, announced she was leaving him, and admitted to taking money equal to four years of lost earnings.
