I lost my dad suddenly when I was 10, and the last gift he gave me was a singing teddy bear. I kept it for 20 years, then gave it to my 7-year-old son. When we opened it to replace the batteries, I discovered a small cassette hidden beside the battery box. I found a recorder and heard my dad’s voice—reading my favorite stories, sharing funny memories, and giving advice for the future. At the end, he said that because he might never meet my children, he wanted me to give them the cassette so they could “meet” their granddad. My mom never knew about it either.
