The House She Gave Back to Me..

Fifteen years after I caught my husband cheating with my sister, I had cut them both out of my life. When my sister died giving birth to my ex-husband’s baby, I skipped her funeral, saying she had been dead to me for years. The next day, an express package arrived containing keys, legal documents, and my childhood home—the house I had inherited from my parents but was forced to sell after my divorce. It had been secretly bought back and registered in my name. Inside was also my sister’s journal, filled with years of guilt, regret, shame, and everything she had endured after betraying me. Her final entry was about me. Then I found a note from my ex-mother-in-law explaining that she had carried the guilt of her son’s betrayal for years and believed buying back my childhood home was the least she could do to show that I still mattered. She asked me not to hate my sister and told me I could call her anytime. I never expected forgiveness, or such kindness, from the person I least expected to be on my side.
