Disabled Boy Needed A Safe Place To Wait Until The Bus Arrived, So Group Of High School Students Take Matters Into Their Own Hands..

Five-year-old Ryder Kilam, a wheelchair user from Connecticut, once had to be pushed about 75 feet to his school bus each morning and wait outside under a patio umbrella. After his father asked the community for help, students from Westerly High School’s Construction Technology program decided to build Ryder a proper accessible bus shelter. Three classes worked on the project, with senior Mason Heald leading the construction, while Home Depot donated about $300 in materials and a former student helped transport it to Ryder’s home. The shelter was finished before winter and quickly became Ryder’s favorite place, which his family jokingly called his new “fort.” For the students, seeing Ryder’s huge smile inside the shelter made all their hard work worthwhile…READ MORE BELOW
