I caught my husband having an intimate dinner with his secretary, and when I confronted him, he told me he was leaving me because she was “perfect.” Heartbroken, I moved out and started over in a small place of my own. A week later, his secretary showed up at my door, begging me to take him back. She explained that their relationship had started when she was feeling vulnerable after separating from her boyfriend, and for her, it had only been a fling. She also admitted she felt trapped because she feared losing her job if she ended things with my husband. Although I felt some sympathy for her because I knew how difficult he could be, I refused to take him back. Their relationship eventually fell apart after a few months, and I later heard that she had lost her job. I never learned what happened to her afterward, but I know that leaving my husband was the right decision for me. Today, I’m happier, more independent, and finally feel fulfilled with my life.
