The Mysterious Man Who Visited My Children

My husband passed away just eight days before our daughter was born, leaving me to raise her and our five-year-old son alone. Eighteen years later, while telling a friend how heartbreaking it was that my husband never got to meet our daughter, my son suddenly interrupted me and said, “No, Mom, he actually did.” He explained that a man who looked exactly like his father, wearing a familiar red hat and making the same gestures, had visited him and his sister at school every single day for seven years before suddenly disappearing. Shocked, I asked my daughter, and she described the exact same mysterious man, remembering the same appearance and details. My blood ran cold because their father had died before their daughter was even born. To this day, I still cannot explain who that stranger was, why he visited my children for seven years, or why he suddenly stopped appearing.
