He Called Me “Pathetic” Before Our Wedding—So I

I was twelve minutes late when I arrived at the restaurant, still in my coat, my mind tangled in work calls that never seemed to end. The place was exactly his style—dim lights, polished glass, quiet luxury. I was walking toward our table when I heard his voice from behind the partition. “I don’t want to marry her anymore.” I froze. Then came laughter—familiar voices, people I trusted. “She’s… pathetic,” he added. And just like that, everything I thought I knew about my life cracked open.

I didn’t walk away. I stepped forward. Daniela saw me first, her face draining of color. Then he turned—shock, calculation, charm trying to recover. Too late. I slipped off my engagement ring, steady and calm, and placed it beside his glass. The soft clink silenced the table. “It’s fine,” I said. “You don’t have to marry me.” For a split second, relief flickered across his face. That was all I needed to see.

He thought the worst thing that could happen was me hearing his words. He was wrong. The real damage hadn’t even begun. Because what he—and everyone at that table—didn’t understand was that I wasn’t just his fiancée. I was the reason his perfect world hadn’t already collapsed.

And as I turned to leave, I realized something else: he wasn’t losing me. He was about to lose everything I’d been silently holding together… and he had no idea what was coming next- FINAL PART HERE
