The Little Boy Who Remembered My Kindness

For three years, I helped my young neighbor Marcus every morning by preparing his lunch and driving him to school while his mother worked night shifts, never expecting anything in return. But when I received an eviction notice and desperately asked his mother for help, she cruelly called me nosy and slammed the door in my face. Heartbroken, I sat crying in my car, feeling abandoned by someone I had helped for years. Suddenly, little Marcus appeared at my window with tears in his eyes and handed me a drawing of us standing happily outside my apartment, along with $45 of his saved birthday money. His handwritten message read, “You are the best person I have ever met.” I couldn’t accept his money, but I kept his drawing as a reminder that although his mother had forgotten my kindness, the little boy had not. That day, I learned that kindness is never wasted, and sometimes the smallest hearts show the greatest gratitude.
